INTERNSHIP CLINICS

Members of the San Diego Class Internship Clinics will be held on the Mondays and Tuesdays following each seminar except Seminar #1. While attendance at the clinic is not required, it is highly advisable that the student schedule at least some of his/her intern time during these two days. Students are expected to invite people they know to these clinics. This then becomes an important learning tool for building one's own private practice.

Spending blocks of time with your instructors allows you to learn much by observation in a way that is impossible to recreate in a classroom "mock-up" or written scenario. Students get a sense for how various questions, problems, and procedures are handled and also sharpen skills for doing QE techniques.

The Internship Clinics will provide most of your internship hours. You will be required to complete 100 internship hours in your two years, however we encourage you to complete more. If you attend ten of the internship clinics, you will be provided with between 140 and 160 hours. We encourage you to utilize as many hours as you can.

The clinics also provide you with the perfect opportunity for you to bring in your friends and relatives who would like to have the work done in a supervised situation. We will also bring in potential clients who have financial challenges that don't allow them to schedule private appointments. The students will be doing all the work at the clinics, with instructors available to supervise at all times.

Clinic scheduling is generally handled by one of the students. Potential clients call that person to schedule a clinic time. Fees for the clinics are $15 per one hour session, payable at the clinic. First session is free.

You may also schedule some of your internship time in the office or practice of one of the primary instructors. This provides you with the opportunity to see how a private practice may be managed.
